Pharmatex is a locally acting contraceptive, which destroys the sperm cell inside the vagina.

Pharmatex is a locally acting contraceptive, which destroys the sperm cell inside the vagina. The active components have disinfectant effects, reducing the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, too.

You can choose from five different Pharmatex forms: soft capsule, creams, tablett and ovules.

The contraceptive efficacy of Pharmatex is clinically proven. The efficiency of contraceptive products and methods is characterized by the Pearl-index, which gives the numbers of pregnancies per 100 women-years (meaning the number of pregnancies occurring in 100 women when they use a contraceptive method continuously for a whole year).

Spermicidal compounds have slightly better efficacy (lower Pearl-index*) compared to other locally acting products, but as with all local methods the efficacy is strongly dependent upon the correct usage.

Contraceptive method Pearl-index**

Vaginal spermicide 0.7-7***
Intrauterine device (IUD) 0.5-5
